new patches:

I am old to sidstaion, but have never changed patch banks. what programs do 
you use to change them and back them up?

CUBASE
or MIDIOX ( which is free and runs with .syx files )

The easy way is to download the midi versions of the files. and then just 
play them back in your usual sequencer.

remember to backup your old presets first!!

First back up your patch bank. I'm using Midi-OX for that. It's free and 
works well.
Then delete the memory of the SidStation
Then use Midi-OX again to load the new bank into the SidStation.

actually....
all you have to do is play the sysex file into the SID and it will write
over everything.

i use Performer to load and save my stuff.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
