[elektron] MD Radio-machine????

2002-01-14 by Steril 707

today i experienced something very disturbing with my MD..first, when
playing around with it, i noticed a lot of backgroundnoise coming from the
MD, and when i switched off the MD, i could hear some local Radioprogramm in
my Headphone when touching the MD....

anybody else experienced this effect?

is there any 'electric' way to avoid this?

i dont wanna hear the local-news on my md when i am harddiskrecording
something...

thank you,
Steril...

I do hear background noise too... but not everytime. Couldn't spot the
reason yet.

I can't say for certain, but I would suggest turning off any
unused inputs...hope this helps,

It depends on the synth engine you're using, I think.

Heh... :-))) Me too, I have the same problem. I reported it to Elektron
the day after I received my MD. Nothing to worry about imo, but funny
indeed.

It only happens right after switching it off and you can hear the sound
is getting quieter and quieter. That's how it behaves over here anyway.

I'd love to hear radio sounds when I touch my MD ! Not everytime I
guess though, but what a cool trick !!! MD theremin kinda thing !
On a more serious touch, as far as background noise is present, I
experienced that already and most of the time, it was caused by an
unnoticed delay, reverb or decay set on a too high level and that
wouldn't shut up (depending on the machine). Check it out maybe. But
it wouldn't work for the radio sounds I suppose :-)

I get the radio effect as well. It happens *every* time I turn the
unit off and different settings (synths, effects, etc) have
*absolutely* no effect. That is to say it occurs no matter what your
setting (except volume=off).

When the unit is powered up and I touch the metal casing, it happens
as well. Though it is a much less obvious effect (i.e. not as loud).

In my area I seem to pick up a sports station. It comes in clearer
than *any* of my household radios. Which is nice.

I'm not griping but it is a curious effect. I just thought I'd chime
in as it seems every time something like this is reported with any
piece of gear, the general response is something along the lines
of: "it must be some *other* piece of your gear? we can't replicate
it over here...etc" Which only helps further the insanity. Bottom
line is: the little bastard gets great radio reception. I bet with a
few choice tweaks it would get in broadcast TV as well. No biggie, it
(the MD) still rules. So long as I don't find myself tearing up the
club with fuzzy shouts of "TOUCHDOWN!" going in the background I'm
fine.
