knob scanning?

knob scanning?

2000-01-10 by luv_hz@xxxxxxx.xxx

i recieved my sidstation from 'drummachine.com' a few days ago, and i must say i'm guite infatuated with it. i was initially shocked at how noisy it was, but a gate is helping now.
also a concern of mine is the knobs only going up to 125 most of the time, and 126 if i work at it. are they supposed to go to 127? please let me know if any of you have noticed this.
and do any of you have suggestions for the update speed, and/or hcut. i want good live timing, and i can't seem to notice much a difference in settings for these.

well...i hope they run out of 6581 chips soon, before they get popular. i feel lucky that i got one....the world will never know what hit 'em!

peace.

yeah i've noticed this .. weird, they seem to jump up to 127 when you let go
of the know at max right (try it)..

what i want to know is what is the audible effect of an envelope bug? a
jitter at the beginning of the note in volume?

It seems to me that if one of the knobs seems unwilling to go above 126,
moving one of the other three will often make it jump. Perhaps the
impedance of the four combined has a minor effect on each individually?

A related issue (probably has the same cause): it is difficult or
impossible to use the knobs to call up an precise value. For example, I've
made a number of patches that assign arp speed to one of the knobs, so if I
want to sync to MIDI clock by setting the arp speed to 12, it will often
jump from 11 to 13, so getting 12 is impossible until I jiggle another
knob. This has never bothered me since I usually set these values from my
sequencer anyhow, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Take care,
Eric
