Its definatly an excelent tool for play live. Always runnin without the
slightest click. It crashed on me a couple of times, (with 1.11OS) but
nothing serious. Im looking for a good hardware sequencer too, that would
allow me to record live. The yamahas are out because you cant switch
between rec and play without stoping the engine first. I guess the EMUs
comand stations can do this, but are full of bugs and editing possibilities.
I guess the thing is still to be invented. Theres always the good old
MPC... besides these ones I cant think of anymore....sorry :)
keep in touch if you find a good solution. About the MD, just get it.

I'm saving up the money. I have to pay taxes first (I'm in the USA an
ended up owing).

I'd like to put together a small, powerful rig that's great for
improvisation. Does anyone have an idea for a companion to the MD? I'm
looking at the FR-777, or maybe a few Technosaurus boxes. The idea here is
to have a few boxes that are self-contained and don't require a computer
for editing/sequencing/whatever.

Has anyone rocked the floor with just the MD? It seems like to can dig
deeply enough into it to make it happen ...

Do you have any recordings online?

That's what I want to do. It seems like when you have racks of gear, you
can't devote much attention to any one thing. I'm looking at the MD as
something to learn deeply, rather than making a couple of patterns on it
and going off to tweak something else. I like the cold, alien sounds on the
elektron site. The MD has enough multimbrality to make basslines, as well
as cool, morphing, tweaky beats.

Yes.
I've done this.

Although you can run out of tweaking pattern banks pretty quickly in 20-25 minutes so then u have to improvise quite a bit and create on the fly but that's the fun of it anyway.
