external controller for MD?

external controller for MD?

2002-04-25 by scutopus

i am still saving for my MD, and am interested in possible live
action with it. has anyone used an external controller to switch
between patterns and the like when playing live? would it even be
possible? i've been looking at the akai MPD16 as a possible
controller in this way but was curious to hear what seasoned users
had to say. some of y'all don't like the MD pattern-change
function(s)--have you found a way around this?
any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
wendell.

Although I haven't gigged out w/ it yet, I've been practicing in my
studio using my MPC2000 to change the patterns and control the MD.
Works well. My only complaint is that when recording MIDI sequences
produced by the MD, parameter lock information isn't transmitted...
Anyone know if that's a limitation of the machine, or if there's some
option I have turned off that will do it?

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
