My MD crashes all the time. I'm getting pretty fed up with it. It has great potential, but what good is that if it can't function without crashing all the time. I noticed that Elektron has also stopped responding to my e-mail inquiries on this topic. Not good. _________________ Post indie electronic Meriphew www.meriphew.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

That's strange, my Machinedrum has never crashed

I've only had mine crash once or twice, and that was with the beta OS. Haven't had a problem since the OS hit 1.0. When are the crashes happening? Randomly? Or only when you try to do certain things? c.

Are you using it as master or slave? Mine is slaved, and it crashes every time I even look at it wrong. _________________ Post indie electronic Meriphew www.meriphew.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

IE- If the MPC was connected to the MD, and then you ran the midi thru of the MD back into the MPC, you'll get a midi loop. Midi loops = a bad thing -d

Sometimes it happens when I change patterns, sometimes it happens when programming (especially when using M3 & M4 sound or pattern). I have version 1.11. All the lights come on and it freezes up. I also normally have to turn it off and on 2-3 times to even get into the machine (this is EVERY time, not just after it crashes). The more I think about this, the more I think I need to send it back. This type of performance is completely unacceptable. _________________ Post indie electronic Meriphew www.meriphew.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

maybe you're sending bad program changes to the md if it is slave -> the sidstation always crashes if you send program changes which aren't recognised by it... bye michael ----- Original Message -----

Not sure what you mean by bad program changes. Please explain. Thanks. _________________ Post indie electronic Meriphew www.meriphew.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

When you power up the MD, keep the "function" button pressed. You get
a small menu with (I think) six choices. From there you can do a full
reset of the machine.
WARNING! This will erase all your patterns and drum kits in the MD as well...
Which OS version are you using? From the menu that appears when you
press the "function" key during power up you can choose to upgrade the
OS too. Have a look at <http://www.machinedrum.com/mdsupport.php> for
more details on how to upgrade the OS.

Within the first week it crashed three times. I figure that was because of changing paterns and going back and forth classic to extended. So I kept it, and have only the best hopes in its operation.

Ok.
What happens if you use the machine by itself, or at least nothing
connected to midi in? Still crashes all the time? Then, send it back
to Elektron immediately and let them have a look at it.

I've only been able to crash my MPC twice: 1) When I was messing around with the internal SCSI port trying to do a little modification :) 2) When I made a MIDI loop... Which is what you did. Turn off the MPC's soft MIDI thru and you shouldn't have the problem anymore. --- In elektron-users@y..., "splank" <splank@z...> wrote: > No, the MPC 2000 crashed. > No problem, I won´t touch that Midi thing anymore anyway. > > Flo > > > > > -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- > Von: Joeri Vankeirsbilck [mailto:joeri@b...] > Gesendet: Donnerstag, 9. what version OS are you running, and when does it crash?
what breaks the camel's back? maybe others can
repeat it. Mine rarely crashes, but I hardly stress it...
