I don't know about the best way about hooking up the gear, but my setup is follows: roland jp-8000 -midiout-> ensoniq asr x -midithrough-> sid station. Each of the the audio outs go to a behringer eurorack mixer. I use the MX1604A. I picked it up for under 100 US and it is a super mixer for the value. seriously, great qualiy. do a search on: EURORACK\ufffd MX1804X for the 8 channel one.
