Download it to the files section if you wish. I'll be honest and
probably won't do it. I don't have my midi interface connected to my
computer that's connected to the internet. Plus I would have to
unplug everything and move the md. I'll probably do it when my
girlfriend's sister takes back her desktop.

I have a comment on the lfo. It would be nice to have a higher and
lower order lfo. The lower would be for nice sweeping and higher for
occilation/wave generation. Maybe they should have an increment
selector on the lfo?

Good idea on the square wave whoever posted that. Never thought the
distort would max a sine to a square.

I have a problem. I have been using the init prog. just while trying
out my new Indigo2. The init uses gnd machines. I tried to use
reverb and delay in the routing menu and I can't hear it. Do they
have to be routed to main or can the effect come out the main while
the original sound come out one of the individuals?

I also found that the compressor doesn't seem too effective nor the
echo or reverb. The echo and reverb are connected to the delay and
reverb in the machine's routing right? But the eq seems to do fine.
Does the compressor have a dedicated knob in each machine? This is
all with a full init gnd machine tracks.

I had another idea. How about sticky knobs? Press once and it stays
'on'(in?) for about 5 seconds. It could stay 'on' also while
tweeaking and start the 5 sec. count down when the knob hasn't been
turned. Or something.

I think global effect are assigned only to tracks on the main outs. Although
it would by pretty ace to route the dry tracks to alternates output and get
the 100% wet signal in the main if needed. Although the general compressor
wouldn't be of much use since it would act on that only

I said before, the "Machinedrum Kits" folder in the "Files" section. In case you
don't know how to get to the Files section of this group, here's the url:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/elektron-users/files/
Look for a folder called "Machinedrum Kits" and click on it (it's the third in the
list). That should get you here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/elektron-users/files/Machinedrum%20Kits/
Once you're there, click on the appropriate folder (depending on what type of
file compression you used... if you compressed the sysex file). I you're not
sure which folder to put it in, just put it in the "Other file types" folder.

To create the sysex file, use KIT SYSEX SEND only!
ie. in the MIDI SYSEX SEND page of the GLOBAL SETTINGS,
make sure the SELECTION is "KIT". Single kits are prefered,
ie. RANGE should be set to something like "07-07" or "31-31".

Thanks :)

By the way, a couple of months ago, I put one of my own kits in the folder. To
download it, just go here
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/elektron-users/files/Machinedrum%20Kits/
and click on one of the folders (like "syx" or "zip"... depending on what file type
you want it in). It's called "SCRAP-PAND (Kit 31)".

hmmm...iirc, the compressor has a "mix" knob on the bottom right...
and iirc, it has to be turned counter-clockwise in order for the compressor
to be enabled.

BTW, I usually turn up the GAIN, to the left of the
MIX knob, about halfway. Anymore than that and I get compressor
distortion. Is this about normal for other people?

BTW#2, I usually can't turn the MIX knob up more than 3/4 of the way
otherwise I get compressor distortion...is this normal for others?

Compressor distortion is caused attack/release times being too fast.
Also, you should use "gain" only to make up gain for what you have lost
compressing; if you turn it up much, you could experience distortion as
well. I think that turning it halfway is too much already.

Hint: mix the various tracks without using the compressor, then finally
use it to enhance sound.

Machinedrum french review

2002-10-18 by onosendai

Hello !

I have done the review of the Machinedrum for Musicrun.com, a french
musical website.
You could read it there (but in french) :
http://www.musicrun.com/tests/machinedrum/machinedrum.php3

And If a lot of french users send me an email, maybe we could make the
first french forum for Elektron product...

Best regards

Cyril
