A recieved email from elektron

2003-01-10 by endlessnessisticman <endlessnessisticman

Here is an email I got today from elektron. Thought everyone would
be interested:

> I have a Machinedrum. I would like to say what a wonderful
machine
> you've made. Definitely a classic in the making.	I would like
to make
> some requests for improving it.
Thanks.

>
> -Can you make the midi machines live record from an external
midi keyboard?
No. The way midi in processed is not at all suited for this. I agree
it
would be very useful but I don't see that we could make it work well.

>
> -Can the CC knobs in the midi machines become a smart knob like
in many software synths?
I'm not totally familiar with what a 'smart knob' does, I've heard
that
term being used for a few different features. Please let me know what
you
mean.

>
> -Is it possible to have different delay effects on different
tracks?
No. This would require 16 times more memory for the delay.

>
> -Can you "beef" up the effects?	I know, I'm fishing
now. How about distortion parameters?
We might do an update to the Master fx/Track effect in a future
upgrade.
Though we need the Machinedrum to be compatible with old
kits-patterns and
that limits the things we could do.

>
> -Any new machines for the Machinedrum comming out? Curious.
I certainly hope so. _But_ it takes quite long time to do hi quality
machines and right now we are flooded in work with our new still
secret
product...

>
> Just some ideas since my first few months with the thing.
Great to get some input.

Really?

I want to save for a RS7000 but if Elektron are coming
out with something I might wait.

I wonder if it will have velocity pads or like the
RS7000 two assignable velocity pads

  Hmm...

I already have both an MPC2000XL and an E-6400 Ultra. I wonder if
Elektron can beat out both Akai and E-Mu? Probably.. :)

Hey there,

Pesonally I'd like to see a full on hardware sequencer. I love the MD implementation and would like to see the take it further. Unlike samplers, there are not enough hardware sequencers around, and since the demise of the Notron, there is a gap in the market for something really new and groovy =0)

`thinking happy thoughts

Then add a small synth w/keyboard and 10 sid chips in
there and you have my dream come true

Ahhh come on guys...
Didn't you notice that Elektron are quit original in their productions...

I would more see a device that makes coffee as soon as you clap your hands
and when the drops fall on the hot coffee it would create a random sound
generator with tons of modulations and audio crispies... He heeee =: D

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
