What OS version are you running? If you haven't already, I would
highly recommend you update to OS 1.12

Well, there is no smart card storage, but you can use MIDI SysEx dump
to store your data. Any PC/Mac or external hardware sequencer should
be able to record SysEx dumps properly.

Sorry to hear about your lost data - that is never fun...

Strange, this sounds like it may be hardware-related, then... have
you contacted Elektron?

Understood.

I do it between each and every song I create using the MD. I like to
be sure that all of my data is always intact. You never know what can
happen.

Well, I'm just paranoid about my song data. I like to know it will be
around in the years to come...

If you use SoundDiver, download the adaptation I created for the MD.
It will let you save individual kits, songs, global, patterns very
easily. At least it will cut down on the amount of time you need to
spend on backing up your data.

No problem, and good luck...

Try to use Cubase or Logic Or midi ox .Put on the record button
(enable sysex in cubase ,options menu , midi filter)

Go to the elektron global menu select sysex send select kit. pat.
sng. . But beware !!!you've got to record all the data witch is send
by the elektron Tip!!! disaable the sync out!! LecZ

hi,
some weeks ago i had the same problem, i lost nearly all data.
Sometimes parameters of a whole page are locked when i turn one knob and
sometimes without touching any knob.yesterday my machinedrum was crashing( =
i wasn´t able to switch between patterns and sounds). After switching off and=
on, elvis told me that this machine is ok............. I think this is a ha=
rdware problem.

Same thing happened to me unfortunately ( at least the memory loss
part, not the locking up)... Turned my MD on, and all my kits and
patterns were gone. Happens quite frequently on my friends Sid station
as well. Maybe just bad non volatile ram ( or "sorta volatile ram") in
our units? Very distressing!

Good night, Jeremy
