Elektron Musical Instruments

Hi,

For those who suggested the pattern shifting to me (function + arrow 
left/right), I allready know that, and use it from time to time. I'd 
like say that I proposed that when in same mode you could press 
function + arrow up/down and this would mirror the pattern. I'm sure 
everybody understands what I mean. I think it would be nice feature 
and wouldn't cost much dsp or wouldn't screw the user-interface in 
any way because there is allready a ideal free key combination for 
it: left/right shift pattern to left or right, up/down make pattern 
mirror or back again. It would be like building allready a functional 
feature to more advanced.

As for the Randomize-drum function. I thought that too, when I was 
thinking this mirror thing. I didn't propose it because I don't like 
it. Why I don't like it? Well, for me it ruins the experience of 
building own drums. It's kind of a blind shortcut and in the end it 
get's pretty boring, because before you know it you start to press 
randomize again and again, just to be lucky if you could get 
something usefull out of it, without thinking it much. No, I'm not 
saying that you couldn't get good stuff by using that, it's just that 
the good path of trying and getting satisfied for what you have done 
disappers partly when doing it random. And thats the experience I 
fear that could get lost with this random feature. And when that 
experience is gone, then the MD turns into dull machine. 

Ok, I understand that it's pretty though opinion. And I also 
understand that people want it. So should we get it? Yes of course! I 
don't have to hit it, if I don't like it :) 

As we are in the matter I would like to say that I believe it get's 
into OS easier if can think of some nice and logical key combination 
for it that doesn't get away in the User-interface. Because the User-
interface is so good now in MD I'm sure that Elektron want's to 
protect that, so that it doesn't get gluttered with anything... So 
it's important to work out some good key-combination for it. Any 
ideas? (I don't have my MD right here, so I can't try to solve this 
right now).

I would still like to have that mirror option too, so if other people 
like it please, tell us.

ps. As for some other tough opinions I don't even like factory 
presets. They seem to guide me to some direction always. So when I 
get some new gear I always empty it compleatly before I start using 
it. This way - I feel - I'm going my own path and enjoying the gear 
more. Yes, I emptied the MD also ;)
