Sid Problems

i downloaded some patches for my Sid lastnight and got a copy of MIDIOX to upload the sysex files. after doing so, maybe only one out of every ten patches gives a useable sound and the rest of them are basically random clicks and beeps. to be sure that something was wrong, i uploaded the factory presets and got the same results. has anyone run into a problem like this, and if so, how did you fix it? in case the info helps, i'm running MIDIOX on Win98 through a MOTU Fastlane and triggering the Sid from an ESQ-1. and as far as i know, the Fastlane is up to date on drivers. thanks.
