Ello, this may be obvious, but it's not just because you've got a midi feedback loop is it? Unplug your midi cables to check.

Subject: [elektron] Syncing MD to cubase sx and the 'MD is dead'-problem

  Hi,

Yesterday I tried first time sync Md to cubase. After a while I got
it work. Everything worked well, expect one thing:

When my MD is in song mode and I use locators in Cubase SX to make a
loop, the MD starts at the right place of song, but when SX goes
looping the MD just continues the song. This isn't very clever way to
try to do a song. Has anyone managed to get MD sync with SX and used
song from MD and loop in SX? Hopefully I wrote clear enough.

Another thing, I found my MD dead this morning!!! Well, not actually,
but it hangs on Elektron logo everytime I try to start it! I posted
about this to Elektron, but haven't received any answer yet. Maybe
someone has ideas what to do. There are reset-options in 'early-
startup-menu', but I don't want to reset my kits and patterns (it's
almost full). Does anyone know what the 'Soft reset' does? Does it
  wipe out the kits?

  Toni.

ps. I hope I don't have to send my MD to Sweden... :(

Hi Toni,

The problem is a bug in SX. When looping, SX/SL don't send the correct position pointers and the MD (and anything else on MIDI clock) will drift out. Steinberg are aware of this and have said that it will be dealt with in the next update (March/April). The real question is why they allowed such a serious bug to be released in the first place. Personally I have been playing with Sonar to see if I can get away from Cubase (having been thrown off Logic when they went to Apple only). Good Luck!!
