Could not find your link but found this one http://messe.harmony-central.com/Musikmesse03/Content/Elektron/PR/SFX-6.html "The Elektron Monomachine SFX-6 is a multiple synthesis and FX synthesiser with unique parameter sequencer control. Monomachine SFX-6 is scheduled for public release in the third quarter of 2003 and delivers a new concept in musical synthesis and sequencing. It is built upon the proud traditions of previous Elektron synthesiser models SidStation and Machinedrum. The dual DSP engine of the SFX-6 offers six tracks of audio synthesis, each with dedicated sequencing and effects. Each track can be assigned a user selectable synthesis algorithm or FX generator. The selection of algorithms include both traditional types as well as new creative algorithms never before heard. Make way for synthesis types such as VO, FM+, SuperWave, Ensemble, Step and Sync. There is a Poly Mode to fulfil the harmonic fundamentals, or by activating the Multi Trig feature, create monophonic textures." They said it did not compete with sids so I guess the answer is nope. I am excited about the Monomachine. It looks like a throwback to what the future was suppose to be: machines and knobs. I also like the left hand/right hand design of the unit. You play with the knobs, etc with your left while you play the music with the right. Plus, new forms of synthesis are exciting . . . I think this is going to be as original an instrument as they are promising. Now, I need DETAILED pictures! :-)

Yeah. those two dudes from flash gordon video could use that !

I don't see why it needs to take up so much space like that. I think it looks interesting and cool, but I already have a midi controller, so I don't see the need to add another |keyboard| into my collection of gear. Wait a bit, once it's on the road, maybe they'll make a rack. For now they needed a keyboard for Elekron only setups. Remember it's a small company, you'll have things one after another. Personnaly I'd like a bigger (at least one octave more) keyboard to make sense and YES a rack version. We do not yet know how tightly coupled the keyboard is with the sequencer. We have seen in photos that there are LEDs above every key... perhaps to indicate which keys are active on any given step? I agree, I think we should wait at least until it is released before suggesting features. I, for one, wouldn't second guess Elektron's vision. --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, "Gert van Santen" <g.vansanten@c...> wrote: > I've got a LASER, Earthman! wrote: > > le 05/03/2003 20:12, Gert van Santen à g.vansanten@c... a écrit : > >> I'd like to see this new machine with a much smaller keyboard - or > >> even without. > > Wait a bit, once it's on the road, maybe they'll make a rack.

Again, Here's a quote from Elektron about the MonoMachine: "it's new, it's wonderful, and it's special. It does not compete with the SidStation nor the Machinedrum, but it carries the traditions from both. It's quite heavy. It makes beautiful sounds. The first 100 units will be reserved for our friends and released in June this year at a special price. However, perfection does not come cheap.
