Monomachine as module

Monomachine as module

2003-03-06 by Daniel Ornelas

Hello!

First off, let me say how amazed I am with the Monomachine. I had the
lab page as my homepage since I got the Friends email (read: i am
obsessed!) and that I can't wait to hear it in action.

Anyway, after various zoom ins, I realized the keyboard is not
detachable, and that the Monomachine has an internal power supply
located on the edge of they keyboard itself. This is a good thing for
the most part, but I travel alot with my MD, I can only imagine how
difficult it will be to move the Monomachine around on airplanes!

Now, I wanted to see if anyone felt the same about this: Do you think
we can get Elektron to look at the possibility of making a seperate
Monomachine module sans the controller?

Either way, I'm buying it!

I'm sure they take in account our opinions here without even telling
us. I think they'll read this. They are looking for these opinions
during this prerelease time. I'm sure like many other synths with
keyboards there will be non keyboard models. There aren't many
recent synth models that I know of that don't come in a kb less
model. Judging by the many opinions here and my own they would be
wise to come out with a kb less version. I also notice a joystick on
the thing. There could be problems or limitations.

Does anyone remember me mentioning the voice synthing idea I had for
a new MD machine?

I think we all need a little keyboard to our right , a joystick in the
middle and knobs, buttons and a screen on the left. The Monomachine loses a
lot of appeal as a module alone. Like the Nord Modular G2, a lot will be for
performance. The physical layout of this synth will become very personal to
us all.

I vote AGAINST a Monomachine module. :-)

How about we all just *wait* until we can actually try one or hear
one or see what it's really capable of!!! Here we are discussing
modifications to a machine that's not even gonna be in our hands for
months! Patience!
