Monomachine Contra

I am really a big fan of Elektron Products, i own the Machinedrum,
and i am quite happy about it (not about everything).

i feel most of you are a little bit too "uncritical" when it comes
to Elektron Products. Almost kind of religious.

i think its weird how most of you are praising facts of the
Monomachine, which are completely standard, or not really that
amazing in the Year 2003 anymore.

the known facts:
* it's 6 part multitimbral (as is my 4 year old novation nova)
* it has some kind of stepsequencer per part (like a korg electribe)
* it has a good load of knobs for tweaking (but not sooo many,
compared to a Nord Lead 3, or even a Virus).
* It has a dedicated Effect Unit per Instrument(like my old Nova)
* and it costs "under 2000 Euro", as somebody was stating here...(i
think 2000 Euro is quite a lot)
* nobody knows the about the MMs' sound quality yet

i think the overall concept of the Monomachine is quite interesting,
and i appreciate Elektrons unique style in designing Synths, but i
guess you guys should keep a little bit more to the ground, and
cling to the facts. And i hope Elektron will do a Synth machine for
the Machinedrum in one of their next Updates for the OS.

Heresy! You pathetic unbeliever! You have offended the Great God Elektros
and brought upon yourself the fearsome wrath of His followers. Prepare to
meet with hordes of outraged acolytes who, clad in indigo blue robes, will
swarm upon you out of the shadows to drag you, shrieking pathetically, to our
Temple in the mountains. There we will boil the bones out of your feet and
force you to hobble your insolent mass to the Peak of Fire, where you will be
promptly disembowelled and slowly devoured by condors.

AW: [elektron] Monomachine Contra

2003-03-17 by Splank!

I remember before the machindrum came out
half of the people on the list (elektron/sidstation) was saying:
"why do they make a drum machine?" "Who needs a drum machine in these days?"

Well, who needs a kind of synthesizer like this?
BUT you could also say "who needs a digital hardware synth anyway?"

I know: I need an Elektron Synth, and be it only monophonic like the
Sidstation!

Praise to the swedish Elektron kings
Flo
