I'm getting my MachineDrum!

I'm getting my MachineDrum!

2003-05-05 by stevenlebeau

My girlfriend ordered my MachineDrum on the May 2nd. It was supposed
to arrive today (May 5), but was held by customs because Elektron
didn't include some sort of FCC compliance forms (and I know that's
happened to others on this list). It also turns out that FedEx
required some kind of Importer ID Input form 5106 to be filled out.

Any members on this list buy a MachineDrum recently? Did everything
go smoothly for you? I'm just curious how common this is.

BTW, I couldn't be happier to be getting my MachineDrum. Better late
than never! :)

I had the same thing happen to me last year. I thought it was
normal for U.S. customers. FedEx called, I shelled out the fee,
faxed back the form, and a couple of days later I got my baby.

Well, it arrived today (only one day late, which isn't so bad).
Brought it with me to work today, and thankfully I didn't experience
any of the problems mentioned by Simon. The knobs do have a bit of
resistance to them, but I think they feel great. The buttons also
feel real solid.

Having owned an RS-7000, I was familiar with grid-style programming,
but the way the MachineDrum does it is much more satisfying, somehow.

Well, I'm paying her back once my tax returns come in the mail... :)

Do you know whats even better? A MD and a RS7000.
I've come up with a way to let them interact in a Live situation, very flexibel!!!
I record drums and parameter movements in the RS (on 4 tracks) and live i can record them back in the MD when changing styles. This way you can mix styles because the beats of the last style keeps playing on the MD when mixing in new tracks.
If anyone's interested i can tell the complete trick to do this.

Kenny! Nice to see you here too.
It was a reply to this lucky guy with a nice girlfriend.
I hope she still we like him when she finds out he's loving his MD more :-D

I don't have the RS7000 anymore, but I do have an E-mu XL-7 Command
Station, which is becomming a more awesome sequencer with every
operating system update they release! I can't wait to try doing
similar stuff to what you're doing with the RS7000!

Actually, I'm teaching her to use the MachineDrum too, so we can
enjoy it together. :)
