AM doensn´t mute

AM doensn´t mute

2003-05-19 by Rui Peixoto

Hey list!
Im writing to report a bug (?) I found some time ago. In certain
particular settings (mid-low frequencies, high amount) the AM makes a sine
wave sound even after the sequencer is stopped. This probably means that the
AM oscillation is self-generated, but its pretty bad to keep listening to
the feedbackish sound when the engine is stopped. The modulating wave
itself is producing sound even when theres no wave to modulate. Have any of
you experienced the same thing? Cant this problem be fixed?

I have. I'm experiencing it right now. The only option seems to be
changing the parameters so that it doesn't occur; but I don't want to
change the sound of the machine... :-(

Did you figure out a fix for it (short of routing the machine's output
back into the MD and using the gate machine)?

Joe.

I discovered a fix right after I replied to your post. :-)

For me at least, the problem has only occurred with the EFM machines
(usually the snare). In all instances where it was occurring, I had
the "HPF" parameter (under the Synthesis menu) set to 0. Turning it
up to 1 fixed the problem and made no discernable difference to the
machine's sound.

So maybe it's a feature, not a bug! :-)

Joe.
