how does flash rom get wiped? is there any way to prevent this? i haven't even had this thing a week and shit is already going wrong with it. not a very stable product.

It is just a guess. Most synths have some kind of flashmemory, and similiar things has happend to me (with my roland mc505). Just reload the flash and you should be sid\ufffdin away again. /mga

Yes ... but it's strange that the SIDstation, car reset himself like this ... I think you should ask Elektron directly for this.

still having "ready for flashrom upgrade" screen showing up. if i can get to other screens it usually defaults to a patch and i am unable to change it to a different one. when i am able to navigate to the system menus, the screen flickers between menus so much that it is impossible to read. i tried reinstalling the OS with no luck. sid won't ever restart itself and when it is turned off and then back on "ready for flash upgrade" screen appears. i've contacted elecktron but they have offered no solutions yet. i would really like to get this resolved soon. i guess this is the risk of buying equipment from unknown name: they can just sell it and stick you with the problems.

I bought a Sidstation more than 1 year ago ... uhmm ... it was in v0.7 ... sometimes after I received the new eeprom and pic chip ... installed it without any problem ... The other day I bough a Ninja, order in on Saturday ... 2 days after I received it. So I can really say that Elektron got a nice customer care. You can't say that Elektron is not a unknown company ... it's a know company but it's not big (like roland or Yamaha or whatever) but such kind of company like Elektron , provide you better services ... and If Elektron is still not back to you with an answer is maybe because they're trying to find the most easy way to solve it for you! You are wrong. I have never been so much supoprted as by those Elektron guys! If they offer you no answer they are just megabusy. They rule. As for your machine i think you shoulg call them at Elektron and i promise (well..) that they will help you right away. The day you get your sidstation going it WILL be worth all the pain you are experiensing now. Really! Best regards -SKOMM (if my memory is correct i think that message should appear when you hold down some keys during startup. check for a stuck key on the keypad!?)

I agree it's a risk but Elektron has been helping me in outrageous ways I wouldn't expect any other synth company to extend to.
