OK, I think I've got the VO synth down :-)

Thanks!  I was making things more difficult than they needed to be (I should
have known)

It seems like the best way is to pick the consonant you want, so "M" for
Monomachine.
Then you adjust VOC1 and VOC2 to get the vowel sound you want to follow the
consonant, an "AH" sound for MOnomachine, which I got by setting VOC1 to 115
and VOC2 to 52. I parameter locked these values in for the "M" step.

The "MAH" needs some time to sound so I had to leave two blank steps before
the next consonant.

Also, you need to increase the AMP hold time, CLEN (consonant length) and
other stuff to get things sounding good. also the filter env can help get a
little bite into the beginning of consonant sound so it doesn't sound so
mushy.
