Sidplay for Mac

Sidplay for Mac

2000-08-04 by Peter Ehrlich

Hi,
Does anyone else use Sidplay (Mac) in conjunction with their Sidstation?
I'm having some difficulty getting them to work together. Sidplay freezes
when I select ASID mode in the prefs on my G4 Yikes running 8.6.
On my Powerbook, also running 8.6, it slows way down, but once you get a
song playing it's fine. Sounds weird, I know. Any ideas???
Looking for tips or observations...

Thanks,
Peter Ehrlich

Which version of OMS do you have installed?
I can only guarantee that it will work if the SIDStation is the only MIDI
device connected. It might be bad if there is a long chains of MIDI
devices.

hi,
I just sent you an email directly, before I read this. :)
Right now I'm running 8.6 on a G4 Yikes with an old MOTU Midi Time Piece.
The Sidstation is on its own port, all by itself. There is a bunch of other
stuff hooked up but they are on individual ports. Not sure if that could be
a problem.
I have OMS 2.3.8 running.
I tried it with Freemidi too in emulation.

One time I tried switching to ASID mode with a song already playing, and it
was sending something to the Sidstation. It was pretty garbled though, and
I couldn't get out of the prefs dialog.

I'm trying to think of other useful specs...

If you think of anything let me know. Thanks!

I guess the porblem is your MIDI interface. This is an USB thing?
Or did you add a serial port to the G4?

Andreas

I added a gport, so it's running through the serial port. For some reason,
I don't think it's the midi interface or setup. The program behaves this
way whether I have midi devices hooked up or not. Seems like the program
would just time out if it couldn't find the Sidstation???
Another thing I have to do is run OMS and an extremely minimal set of
extensions and see what happens.
I have other midi apps going with and without OMS...not sure how that
relates to the ASID mode.

hmmm...

Thanks for the assistance,

Oh, one more thing...
What setup(s) have you tested Sidplay with?
Maybe I can duplicate one of those and see if I can get it going.?

Hope this isn't too OT for this list!

So I checked out version 3.3 for Mac and it's pretty cool. Does
anynone know if it'll support Sidstation or is my only hope Acid or
Hardsid PCI?
