MM: no need to save kits?

MM: no need to save kits?

2003-12-01 by Ravi Ivan Sharma

So, I have a pattern with KIT1 and I tweak the sound of the drum track. I don't save. Then I turn off the MM and then turn it back on again. I expected that pattern (and all the other patterns using KIT1 to sound as before, i.e. not tweaked, since I didn't save. But they remain and play back tweaked? Is this a feature or a bug (or my lack of reading the manual . . if there was one) :) ?

Thanks,

Ravi

Now I get it, you are looking for a megamix function like on the
MC505. I'm afraid this won't be implemented on the MM.
If it is, it would be a very great feature expanding Live use to the
  max!!!

it's a feature (in my book, at least). the MD does the same thing when
you shut it off. if you reload the kit or load a pattern with a
different kit, the unsaved kit will revert to its saved state.
otherwise, it remains as before the reset. which is good, if you do like
I just did a minute ago and forget to save the kit before you power off.

songs don't function this way, though. if you forget to save a song and
you reset, you're screwed (or so I've been told). BUT if you exit song
mode without saving and then return to song mode, the song will still be
in its most-recently-used state.

ahhhh, ok. I've never tried it; I was just going from what someone else
on the list once said the last time this feature was brought up.

No, songs should work the same way! Turning the unit off and on
should not change the state of memory. It just turns back the state
to "pattern mode", other than that the memory should be all the same.
