MnM: forthcoming FX machines

MnM: forthcoming FX machines

2003-12-05 by Jonathan Lukens

The document that came with my MonoMachine listed RingMod as one of the
machines to be added. I am just curious if this machine will be set up
so that the output of a machine can become a mod source to another.

Also, I am very curious to hear about the distortion machine... I would
find a 3 or even 4 band fuzz very useful for some bass tracks.

Overall, I am anxious for any info regarding these unreleased FX
machines.

This is like internal routing on a Virus. I was wondering if the MD
could be able to do this as well. It sould be nice to have some drum
tracks routed to the input machines without D/A conversion. Could
this be possible with the MD also (global menu), Daniel?

We have postponed the Ringmod to a later OS.

In the Monomachine it is very easy to let one track modulate
another. You would just use Ringmod as FX, and it would take its
input from where you decide. The FX can then generate its output
from 1) the source sound 2) the pitch set on its own track.

For distortion you only have the one in the track effects so far.
Use the Through FX if you want to direct several tracks into one
track effect.

No, the Machinedrum can not redirect the output sound into the
inputs due to the internal DSP structure (one DSP generating, one
DSP effecting, no time for backward communication).

I guess he was asking wether it's still on plans to do a distortion
fxmachine. I would like also to here some more about fx-machines.
There could be also something like Digi-fx, which would have a Bit
reduction and sampleratereduction and something other flavours of lo-
fi (different method of alias, pitchshift, special noise, digiclip).
This would end the debate of SRR vs BRR in monomachine. I would be
very hoped. By the way, the SRR sounds a lot different than in MD,
have is it been changed? I think MD sounds better, but maybe it's
sounds better just because of lot of transients in MD signal..
Anyhow, I would love to here still more about FX-machines...

Toni.

Daniel,
Speaking of such things...is it possible to NOT shut the master FX off
when individual outputs are used?

Joe.

Well, the Master FX is always on, but always directed to the Main
stereo outs.

Right. Is it possible to have it be on for tracks directed to the
individual outputs? Perhaps you would need to use a pair of outputs
even... I just think it would be great to be able to keep the synced
delay (for example) on an individual output which can then have other
effects added externally.

This is more flexible since you can store your internal EFX settings
with the kit; and then if you so desire, you just add more to them
externally (rather than having to externally make up for EFX you lost
by using the individual outputs option).
