I had the same problem upgrading OS.
In my case a soft reset before the midi upgrade did the trick!

Make sure you don't have a midi-loop, i.e. use a midi in only when upgrading. Sounds stupid, but I had the MM lock up on me (not while upgrading though) and it was just a dumb midi loop. I upgraded to .94 yesterday without a hitch using midiox. Went as smoothly as to .93.

  howdy all,
i just got my monomachine like 3 days ago, and its eating away at my
  brain
  (in a good way)
i upgraded to the newest os right away, which was .93 at the time,
with no problemo. then i see that .94 comes out yesterday so i back
up all my kits, patterns, songs, etc. and try updating to the new os,
well i tryed like 10 times using midiox and sendsx and everytime i
get some error message. once it just didnt do anything, meaning
frozen. i did a reset for some stupid reason, and when i try to send
all of my backed up stuff from my computer, it only gets part of it,
like it just stops recieving data or something while the computer of
course continues in the data transfer. but i only get part of all my
stuff into the MM, the rest never gets there. know what i mean?

has anyone else had anything like this happen?

i would have posted it on the beta page, but i was wondering if it
was just me being retarded or if it actually was a problem, happening
  to other people.

Has anyone here had any luck upgrading their OS using any kind of large scale MIDI Interface (8 ports or greater). It seems to me, that most of you have had better luck with the smaller, cheaper interfaces. I am using a MOTU MIDI Time Piece. Zebra is using the Fastlane. I have also tried using a Unitor8 and have had no luck. The only thing that has worked for me is a cheap little $39.00 Midisport 1x1 and Windows Media Player for Windows 2000.

I would really appreciate any info anyone can offer me with regards to what MIDI interface you are using (succesfully or not), and, what software you are using in conjunction with it, to transfer the sysex or .mid files to the MonoMachine.

I'm using a MOTU USB MIDI Express XT 8 in/out with SysEx Librarian on OS X with no
problems.

my stupid stoner ass almost forgot i had a M-Audio 1010LT in my
computer. i used that and it worked real good. i just used windoes
media player. i think ill just be using that from now on for my
upgrading poipesses. i dont think you can really call that an
interface or not, but it worked for me. That Fastlane of mine is only
a 2x2 and it only worked once for me using Sendsx, when i upgraded
to .93 of the OS, but never worked after that..

and im out

I think Bryan was highlighting the problem on PCs running MOTU MIDI
interfaces…
MOTU and PCs are not on very friendly terms (MOTU _should_ hire someone
able to make decent drivers for PCs one day…)

On mac it rocks! :)

I know also on Mac about the combo SysEx Librarian/M-audio small
interface (don't remember the reference… I'll check) that works.

I use one of the cheap midi interfaces that attaches to the joystick port on an old SoundBlaster16 audio card w/MidiOx. Never had one issue with this combo for any synth or OS update.

I've been using Rme hammerfall dsp with win2000 and midi-ox.
Everything has always worked fine, not a single clitch. I even
haven't had to tweak anything on midi-ox. Very smooth.

MOTU made the sound driver(right?) for Panther OSX. I guess PC users
should just stay away from them. Mac seems like their preference.

Certainly. Some PC users have a great experience with, but for most it
seems just a walk into endless problems.

Close to the developpement process does mean usually: MOTU developpers
have close access to the guys in charge of the stuff at Cupertino, can
try and test things in the very early stages and criticize eventually.
It does not mean MOTU is doing the developpement.

Just like the handfull of developpers who had access to G5s from june
on.

I can ask Peter if you want. :)
