MD & MM feature request - a new kind of (midi) machine

MD & MM feature request - a new kind of (midi) machine

2004-02-02 by Janne Gson Berg

I want a controller machine, that is, a machine that can control
parameters in other machines.

I want to be able to assign whatever parameters from other machines to the
knobs of the controller machine. This way you can choose to create a
minimixer, filter sweeper, whatever. Configure which machines and what
parameter to affect on some pages, let the first one be the actual
tweaking page.

This would make both machines even more live friendly.

This would be real cool. Something that is configurable to your
needs. You could assign different filters to up to 16 different
machines of your choice, for example, to one knob. The question is,
is it possible? This is something that could really help in the
MD. You could maybe throw in the triggerless parameter locks on
such a machine.

I sort of do that... 3" midi cable from monomachine out to monomachine
in, then everything else attached to the thru. MIDI Masturbation.

It's not how big it is.... it's how you use it. And haven't you read
all those sonic studies on how females tend to respond better to
minimalism in music? ;-]

then why are you trying to add *more* MIDI to your MnM? 8-)

This would rock!!! The more I think about this, the more it makes me
drool... (Actually I would even pay for it (with money/losing
previous work!)

Toni.

I'd love to see this in an Elektron box.

In the meantime you might want to check out the new
Nord G2 Modular. Haven't been able to touch one yet,
but the product description
(http://www.clavia.se/G2/)implies a high degree of
MIDI automation & event / sequencer control. No
manual out there yet.

It *may* do what you want. 'course at a price, but it
does a helluva lot more than just control.
