mnm part 2

2004-03-02 by starpawz612

ok i threw the lil funk up in a small mp3:

http://gorehole.org/mor/k9d-mnm-okfun.mp3

it's just a single pattern, muted ... i guess since it's only mnm and
the first thing i did it's more of a demo than anything else but i'd
say it's up to par with the stuff i've been doing with 4 channels on
the gameboy, and i call that music, heh.

also, anyone else in america have to pay custom dutys on their
monomachine? i had to pay an extra 79 @ the door. i thought the
website said the 1350 was gunna be flat, maybe not ...

anyway,

yes it is. cool stuff! I dig the low-fi drums too. and it sounds like
you're using the VO-6 machine for synth sounds (if I'm not mistaken),
which is cool.

regarding your MnM crash: try doing a factory reset (hold FUNCTION when
you start it up to find the menu). perhaps you have some corrupt memory
that is crashing it. if it still happens, contact Elektron about it.

no! you shouldn't have to pay anything at all. there was a recent
Elektron friend email stating this and the sales website states this
as well. contact Elektron immediately so that the two of you can figure out
how to dispute this charge. you should be able to dispute it and get your
money back, it just might take a little while.

This happened to me too. I didn't think much of it at first, but now
that you mention it, it did say that that was included on the site.
I think I need to send them some mail too.

that sucks that people are getting hit with the fees now. note though
that if you purchased a beta version, I don't think they were including
the cost of the duties in the purchase price then. I don't think they
started this until January.

anyway, hopefully UPS is better about the dispute than Fed-Ex; I fought
them for three months over duties on my repaired Sidstation. so good
luck! :-)

joe, thanks for listening! no, i didn't use the VO-6 ... i used the
SID a little, the analog-a-like, and the drum one... but at such a
low bitrate who can tell, haha! i like that though, i am a real fan
of small file sizes, bellowfi sound, and making stuff that's
expressive even when crunched like that or quiet.

i'm gunna hold off commenting on the interface or synthesis until
i've had a chance to really dig into it so i don't make a fool of
myself with the few complaints i have so far. overall though, i'm
super impressed and pleased, lil mnm had me up nearly all night ;D

roger, i just hit the link again ... it was there, give it another
shot? i havn't had much problem with my provider before, but maybe
it's getting flakey.

that's what elektron support suggested. i'll give it a shot 2night!
need to test all the outputs and inputs as well . .. and try synching
to my gameboy, omgggg haha

ok! i mentioned it in an email to support but they said nothing, so
i'll hit up the sales address and see if they can help me sort this
out.

Was this for just the MnM? I'm curious because I bought a MD sent
to Korea and had to pay about 20% in duties. I wonder if I could
dispute this?

it's for the MD and the MnM but it didn't take effect until about
two months ago (I think, might have been a bit longer). AND I believe
that it's only for the US and Europe that the sale price includes
all duties.

if in doubt, contact Elektron.

FREEZE happened to me too.

I asked this thing to ELEKTRON,
It was answer that it was failure(DSP erorr).
Then, my MONOMACHINE was sent to ELEKTRON from Japan 1 month ago.

MONOMACHINE which repair completed has returned 1 week ago.
For the moment, FREEZE does not happen.
If my MONOMACHINE will operate perfectly from now on, I think that it
is glad!

ELEKTRON support is very kind.
Thank you Daniel and Fredrik !

ok, i heard back from elektron sales and they said this extra duty
should not have been charged. it will take a few weeks to work it
out, but eventually i'll get my money!

i did a factory reset on my MnM and so far I havn't had another mute
crash.

still learning the beast, good times ;D

Too much to bother. You never know in Korea. Could have been a
ransom I paid for.

Hey bamboo. I'm in Korea. Good to hear Elektron has gotten to the
East finally. But I'm from the US. My wife(Korean) is in Tokyo as I
write. We think Osaka is better. Good news "buy the way".

hello endlessnessisticman

I bought MONO from Elektron directly.
but now,
Elektron can be purchased in a Japanese distributor(FUKUSANKIGYO).
