Has anyone got info on cases/bags for the MonoMachine and Machinedrum?

Re: [elektron] gig bags, hardcases

2004-04-15 by Damon Menne

I use an Don Skeller SN4 camera bag with some custom cut gray packing
foam to transport my machinedrum (and either a nord micro modular or an
evolver)... it took about a half hour to cut the foam just right to fit
in the bag and hold everything, but it fits the machinedrum and
everything else perfectly now. The bottom and sides even have ceramic
inserts to avoid puncture damage!

The bag itself was 70 bucks or something, and is made locally in
Seattle. I'm not sure if they're avail everywhere or just a local
thing.

two great options seem to be:
MD: the pelican 1500 case (http://www.all-pelican-cases-4-less.com)
MnM: the SKB 2SKB-4009 Rifle Case
(http://www.skbcases.com/sports/product/shooting/rifleshotgun.html)
possibly with some extra foam added to the lid

Hahaha that¹s pretty funny. The MnM actually does look like a weapon, a
weapon of peace that is ;)

it's a great fit, though. granted, I haven't tried it myself. but another
list member has and speaks highly of it.

It does look like a nice fit, and suitable for international flight
without banging it to bits. Have you done any pricing?

i got my case for the MnM at "musikhaus thomann", germany, http://www.netzmarkt.de/thomann/index.html?partner_id=38672. they are making each case individually for the instrument you have. the small case (i.e. for MnM or 61-keys-triton) costs 118 EUR (about 140 US$). shipping worldwide, website in several major languages. fits perfect.

But is there any news on the official gig bag for the MnM SFX60 as mentione=
d
in the instruction manual?

I'd prefer a softcase if possible but wouldn't mind a hardcase. Whatever ke=

the unit safest really.

I believe the last time I searched froogle.com I found somewhere around
$130 to be the norm. but again, you might have to buy some extra foam
to protect the joystick.

That would be me.

I bought the SKB rifle case and it almost seems made for the sfx-6. There
is 1-2 inches of space on all sides of the Monomachine. Temporarily, I just
cut up the piece of foam that comes with the case and was meant to go
between the two rifles. I have used it to travel locally and their has been
no problems. I would probably put better foam in it if I put it on an
airplane. The build is better than their keyboard cases that I have seen.

I got mine for $99 and as Joe, I found the deal on froogle.com.

I was hoping that the case would say, 'beware, dangerous weapon inside," or
that I could pull into a truck stop and somebody would ask me what kind of
weapon I had but, unfortunately, it looks just like a slimmer version of the
keyboard cases.

Anyone heard of casing two pieces in any case? I'm thinking of
putting my Machinedrum with my Indigo in one case. Maybe I'm
assuming too much? Anyway I'll probably get my case custom made
here in Korea to travel back to the states.

And the pad that goes between the rifles (about 3 inches thick) is
what you can cut up to fill in the gaps. I have been trying to figure
out options to make a custom fit pad that you can either lay into
the case or use instead of the pad that comes with the case for
more sturdy airline travel. Anybody have ideas?
