i know these are known for their grid sequencing prowess but is the option there for regular old live recording (sequencing)? as in, press record and play. and if i'm using the MD to sequence an external synth, can i do the same?

thanks. so lets say i have a standard MIDI controller keyboard plugged into the MIDI IN on the MD. then out of the MIDI THRU on the MD to the MIDI IN on an external rack synth. i should be able to play notes on the external synth with the keyboard like usual. but i can't use the MD to record those notes? strange. --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, Joe Melnyk <jmelnyk@c...> wrote:

I was actually only talking about the MD, because the full title was clipped in my email viewer when I initially read it. and besides, I have the SFX-6 and my setup doesn't really require me doing such a thing with it; so I never knew this feature worked. but that's cool! you ARE saying that if you enter realtime record mode and then send it MIDI notes it will record them, right? Well, of course - either to 16th or 32nd notes, depending on how you have the pattern set up on the Monomachine. I don't there there are any capabilities within the synth to allow unquantized events. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
