Thank-you for the speedy reply. Here is clarification from my end:

>if you set MIDI Clock to "OUT" it will send clock always (and thus your
light will blink).
No matter what I set it at, I get no blinking

>it doesn't flash even when you use the exact settings described above and
you're playing a pattern?
Correct; playing a pattern gets no blinking from the interface, and no
signal through the cable that any other equipment can read.

>BTW, you have all of the channels in the MIDI Chanls menu set to something,
right?
    I have Base Channel set to 1, which gives a number in every other field;
however, changing this, even to putting base Channel to 16, doesn't give me a
signal out. Also, when I hit "Function" and "MIDI Seq", I can see a MIDI
Channel asignment on each track, so I don't think I am trying to send blank
tracks. Turnning Multi Trig on or off has no effect either.

Do you suppose it is a loose wire that i could fix myself? Are you sure that
there are no other settings that I have overlooked?

Thanks for you help.

that's not good....

but all the other fields have something assigned to them? multi-track,
auto-track, etc...

well those are the external tracks though. are they assigned to the
same
tracks as the internal tracks, BTW? and which are you trying to output,
the internal or the external tracks?

I doubt it and I wouldn't recommend cracking open your MnM to poke
around, mainly because it might void your warranty. The quick and easy
way to check your MIDI OUT port is probably just to do a sysex send
from the MnM to your computer and have something like MIDI-OX (PC)
or Sysex Librarian (Mac) receive it. That should work regardless of
your
global settings. BUT I'm pretty certain that with the settings you're
using, it should be sending data out on the out port. So if that
doesn't work,
I'd contact Elektron again. Tell them exactly what your global settings
are and that you've tried a Sysex send using a known-to-work Sysex
tool (one of the two above) over a known-to-work interface and received
no results.

On second thought, have you tried a factory reset? If the Sysex send
doesn't work, you might want to try that before contacting Elektron.
Perhaps something is corrupt or unitialized... The bad news is that a
factory reset will cause you to lose all internal data. But it looks
like there's
very little you can do to save that at this stage of the game (even if
you send it in for repair).

Sounds suspiciosly much like my problem, I get no detectable midi signals
to my midi->sync interface. I'll try as soon as I can to connect the mono
to the computer to see what actually is going on.
