Hello!
I think if you know how synths works you should be able to do some
noce sounds, i always keeps in mind how sizers work when i program.
One trick is to set upp all three osc imideatly to get more to work
with, the choose some good fitting waves and fine tune the pwm and
the lfo that are linked to pwm, and also test differnet sync/ringmod
on each osc. Then maybe add some vibrato? the you gotta set upp the
envelopes for the three osc, the "0" key is essential to jump between
osc´s so you can finetune your settings, the best way is to just
tweak untill you get a nostalgic shiver.
THe filter also has envelopes/LFO´s that must be set to get some
life
in the sound, remeber to try to disable/enable the filter for 3xosc
so you dont turn the filter on and maybe miss a chance for good
sound, i have got some good results using HPfilter on one osc in a
basssound to add some crisp on the top, but also it can be nice to
set a really slow LFO on the filter and assign to one osc and let it
life a life of it own.
Short basic drumtips:
Kick... Pulse with synced inverted rampLFO
Snare: Noise/Mix with some filtering
Hats : Noise with HPfltr
And set the envelopes fast and with some release.....
Leads can be made with PulsWaves and TRI that are syncéd and/or
ringmodded... .just fool around with diffent LFOsettings for PWM
and 'VIB ´till it feels right.
I never you the philosophy of setting one osc up and the do the
other, i want to know how the three affect each other so i get the
sound nice from the start,
One thing that i cant agree on is that the meny´s are hard to work
in, i think that the meny´s are close to being perfekt, i hardly
never assign DCTRL´s i feel so free running around in the
meny´s and
do my "live-tweaking" i might be insaine though.
I believe that the SidStaion is so very close to perfection, but i
also have learned how to manage the meny´s and now that i can find
the way´s/shortcut´s to all parameters i can say that the
SidStaion
is so extreme fun to program.... but that´s not what everybody
think´s so i might be one-of-kind thinking so....
On my site a have some drumpatches that you can study if you think
they sound good: http://www.enapa.tk,
If someone want to hear SidStation programmed by me check
http://www.gnashed.tk Click Releses>GNCD015 or GNCD007
Hope i made any sense, and pardon my spelling/grammar.... i´m swedish.
regards/enapa
