Emax behaving weird after starting to load a disk...

I just installed a HxC emulator in my emax. I think I installed it correctly, as I can select disk images and Emax starts to load these ("E-mu Sytems - loading Software"). Then - after 14 "loading-clicks" from the HxC, the Emax Display turns blank, then (most of the times) the first row of it turns black and then loading stops. I can't operate the Emax afterwards, nothing - it seems to have frozen. Sometimes I get weird symbols on the display.
I already have reseated ICs on the digital board (except for the RAM chips), as well as all ribbon connectors from/to the boards and the power supply. But the problem's still there.
Has anyone experienced this behaviour, too, and maybe found a solution?
