If you successfully boot- format a brand new DSDD floppy.
Then attempt to boot from the new floppy several times.
If it boots every time- your other disks may just be old and the magnetic field getting weak.
If the new disk also fails to boot sometimes- your floppy drive is going bad. Then attempt to boot from the new floppy several times.

Remember- this is all magnetic media and can fail over time.
If it's the zip drive, I would expect bad behavior on a PC as well.

I have an Emax II that has been flawless until as of late. I am now starting to get bad bank on disc and CRC errors for the first time. Some discs load fine, others give the error. Some will load OK and on a second attempt return an error. I also just started having issues with my external SCSI Zip Drive for the first time. Not sure if perhaps there is any issue that could be related. The Zip is set up on SCSI 5 and the Emax II is saying "not an emax drive." I can't select it to load, format discs etc. Previously it worked with no issues.
If anyone has any thoughts or input any assistance is greatly appreciated. ;I have just never had to get inside the machine to date and am looking for some help as to where I might start to try to trouble shoot and correct.Thank you!Jeff M.
