Re: [emax] Does anyone have the Emax SE OS 1.1 already on disk?

2015-03-26 by J

Pardon me, I was just using omniflop alone. I just tried using emxp and everything went along fine... until I get a warning A specific omniflop driver must be installed in order to access relax floppy disk in drive A. Should the drivers have loaded automatically?

You say "as I'm using it"- I'm not sure what you mean by this statement.

If you use EMXP to write the disk image, it calls Omniflop internally….

Did you do as I previously suggested?

Format a disk in Emax (it will have the 3.2 OS on it then). - verify this new disk boots Emax
Image for SE from the group files put in the "os" EMXP sub-folder, unzipped

Then you write the different OS onto this already formatted Emax disk, using the EMXP menu options, per the manual

Omniflop 3.0b and the latest emxp. But omniflop still requires a license as I'm using it.

My understanding is that registration of Omniflop is no longer required…..

You did download the latest version of EMXP?And version Omniflop newer than 2.01n (which requires no license)

I didn't have to put one in to use Omniflop….

Actually I'm having issues trying to register and thats probably why nothing else is working. I enter the license and click next but keep getting the error message that this function requires registration. I'm running win XP on a dell dimension 2400 w/ internal floppy drive.

You didn't answer my questions.

If the only action you performed was double -click on the Omniflop application, choose Emax format from the dropdown list and then try and write a disk, that does not work.

Please read the EMXP manual as installing the OmniFlop Floppy driver is covered in the manual.

then perhaps we can be more help if it doesn't work after you can confirm the actions taken.

Installing the Omniflop driver and using the EMXP menu is all covered in the EMXP manual.

So I have omniflop, is it suppose to be as easy as drag and drop, because that hasn't worked so far?

1. Did you install the OmniFlop driver?

If not- it will never work.
Omniflop driver will replace the windows floppy driver.
Windows floppy driver won't properly format the disk as Emax is proprietary.

2. You are using an internal floppy that isn't USB? (USB floppy drives don't work with EMXP, from my understanding)

3. I usually format the floppy in Emax first, then write the different OS image to the already formatted Emax disk using EMXP.

Hello all

I've tried the EMXP with windows XP and can't seem to format an OS 1.1 disk for my emax se. Is there anyone who would be willing to sell a working floppy with OS 1.1 on it or know where I can get the disk from some other outlet?

Thanks

OS 3.2 won't have the SE functions.

That technically isn't the right OS for your machine as you functions simply won't be available in the menus.
However, it will still boot the Emax (at least mine does).
Go into Special - then #4 Recalibrate.

You can calibrate everything and / or double check the calibrations of the items from in that menu.

If you haven't gotten the manuals, I would suggest to get them.
I believe the process for calibration is covered in one of them….

The front of my keyboard does say SE and spectrum interpolation digital systems. In the master menu , my menu only goes to 8 and my special function only goes 1-6 but no diagnostic option? I'm guessing its because my OS is 3.2 instead of 1.1?

Are you sure the os says 3.2
As when upgraded to se it usually gives error saying wrong type os

All emaxes still have diagnostic routines its in the software menu master menu it allows you to check memory floppy drives read and write it allows to check the triggering of keyboard to isolate voices if there is a bad voice check wheels and if you have scsi it allows you to format scsi disks

Are you sure yours is a se and not just a hd as these had special software and did not have se so could load 3.2 os

One way yo find out if its an se is to use the se upgrade disk

If its not been upgraded it will upgrade to se if it has it will just load the os

I cannot access the diagnostics nor do I have the option it appears. I have an emax SE but my screen says software Rev 3.2. Online the latest is for the Se/HD models appears to be 1.1. This may be the issue!?

Go into diagnostics and check the mod wheel has not been set at the wrong position

You can reset it

If it persists then there is a problem ssm2300 ic as the sample and hold samples the voltages of the modwheel and pitch wheel and sends the digital information to the cpu via the abc I/0

Hello Emax group

i recently purchased a drive and OS 3.2 Disk to get my EMAX SE back up and running. But now when I sample regardless of adjusting the input db volume, the sample plays back with a strange effect and I can't figure out
why? it sound like the tremolo/vibrato is on, when heard thru the headphones or L/R outputs.
has anyone else experienced a similar problem or have any ideas?

Thanks in advance
