Because omniflop uses its own image format and not emx which is emaxes format
You need the omniflop driver as its a driver designed to talk direct to the floppy controller so that the controller can write specific trackvand byte data
You have to remember a lot of these machines used floppies before pc computers were a set standard and before pc-at was a standard so all the synth manufacturers did not make a standard until the late 90,s when a lot used pc compatibility
Because of this there are many different formats omniflop is written so that these formats can be read and write and backed to an image
It ok using just omniflop if your imaging floppy disks but if you have images made before omniflop was invented on old dos programs then emxp is much better as it reads and writes these images you can also create new disks or hd images and write these to cf cards omniflop cant do that
You need to install the drivers properly and use a proper floppy drive as isb dont work

Subject: Re: [emax] Does anyone have the Emax SE OS 1.1 already on disk?
Hi guys, why do you use EMXP for doing the copy instead of the Omniflop program itself?. Format and copy with Omniflop is very easy. Is the EMXP more reliable?
I think the problem with Jeff is that he didn't install the Omniflop drivers following the procedure of uninstall the current floppy disk driver and then install the Omniflop driver. I think he just put the Omniflop .inf file somewhere, maybe in the System32 folder, and it doesn't work that way.
Manuel
Thanks, I'm at a crossroad and it seems the drivers are the only thing hindering my progress? I have the drivers but not sure why they are not working?Sent from my Sprint phone

As Ted said - Read and follow the very well written manuals for EMXP and for OmniflopIf this step is not followed, then its hard to help you through the rest.It takes some effort when you are new to this (Emax, Omniflop and EMXP) - but you have to "learn" the way to do it.And in my case, my EMAX only works with almost unused floppys, prepared in a certain way, so you can never be 100% sure it always works.Niklas2015-03-26 6:15 GMT+01:00 J jaedoo3000@yahoo.com [emax] <emax@yahoogroups.com>:Pardon me, I was just using omniflop alone. You say "as I'm using it"- I'm not sure what you mean by this statement.
If you use EMXP to write the disk image, it calls Omniflop internally….Did you do as I previously suggested?Format a disk in Emax (it will have the 3.2 OS on it then). - verify this new disk boots EmaxImage for SE from the group files put in the "os" EMXP sub-folder, unzippedThen you write the different OS onto this already formatted Emax disk, using the EMXP menu options, per the manual-TOn Mar 25, 2015, at 8:25 PM, "J jaedoo3000@yahoo.com [emax]" <emax@yahoogroups.com> wrote:

You didn't answer my questions. If the only action you performed was double -click on the Omniflop application, choose Emax format from the dropdown list and then try and write a disk, that does not work. Please read the EMXP manual as installing the OmniFlop Floppy driver is covered in the manual.then perhaps we can be more help if it doesn't work after you can confirm the actions taken.-TInstalling the Omniflop driver and using the EMXP menu is all covered in the EMXP manual. On Mar 25, 2015, at 4:06 PM, "J jaedoo3000@yahoo.com [emax]" <emax@yahoogroups.com> wrote:

1. Did you install the OmniFlop driver?
If not- it will never work.Omniflop driver will replace the windows floppy driver.Windows floppy driver won't properly format the disk as Emax is proprietary.2. You are using an internal floppy that isn't USB? (USB floppy drives don't work with EMXP, from my understanding)3. I usually format the floppy in Emax first, then write the different OS image to the already formatted Emax disk using EMXP.-TOn Mar 24, 2015, at 5:34 PM, "J jaedoo3000@yahoo.com [emax]" <emax@yahoogroups.com> wrote:

OS 3.2 won't have the SE functions.
That technically isn't the right OS for your machine as you functions simply won't be available in the menus. However, it will still boot the Emax (at least mine does).Go into Special - then #4 Recalibrate. You can calibrate everything and / or double check the calibrations of the items from in that menu.If you haven't gotten the manuals, I would suggest to get them.I believe the process for calibration is covered in one of them….-TOn Mar 19, 2015, at 11:11 AM, "J jaedoo3000@yahoo.com [emax]" <emax@yahoogroups.com> wrote:
