Re: [emax] Advice on emax...

I saw that listing too, is there a chance they are not using the right boot disk?? They
need to be using an actual Emax formatted DS/DD floppy with the right OS on it or it
won't boot. The Emax OS is not stored internally, it's stored on every piece of formatted
media.

Remember you are buying a vintage sampler with absolutely no company support
behind it and virtually no replacement parts, if something does go wrong it's not going to
be easy or cheap to fix and the only real place for support is this list and the Emulator
Archive http://www.emulatorarchive.com

Replacement parts for the Emax are getting harder and harder to find and more and
more expensive. The reality is at this age if you plan using your Emax regularly you can
assume you will have to do the following repairs:

 replace the LCD/Backlight around ($40) http://www.backlights.co.uk
replace the floppy drive ($75) http://www.route66studios.com

There is also a chance your power supply could go out and I don't believe there are
replacements for those. Finding the required DS/DD 720k floppies you'll need to store
banks is getting harder, currently the only place I know is Route 66 studios who sells
them in packs of 50 for $17. You should not ever use HD 1.44 floppies with an Emax.

I too am looking for an Emax, but I need an Emax SE HD Rack (with or without working
hard drive). I'm going to do the external SCSI mod. I'm getting nervous my large library
of banks on floppies are going to start going bad and even though I have them backed
up via the Emax II I'd like to start making them available to other users again.
