Re: [emax] SuperMode ? Help please....

2004-02-21 by John Silveria

SuperMode Mapping is the closest thing the Emax has to a Multimode. It's the same for
the Emax though the parameters may be located in slightly different places.

1: Create a new sequence, typically called "SuperMode Map", but you can call it
anything you like. You name the sequence in Sequence Master/ Rename Sequence

......the rest of this takes place in Sequence Setup.

2: Turn on SuperMode (Sequencer Setup 6)

3: you then need to go to Track Status and Arm each track you want (Switch to R
(record)) Remember each track # corresponds to the MIDI channel it will receive track 1
receives MIDI Channel 1 etc. You can either arm them all and delete the unused tracks
later, or just don't arm those you know you won't be using.

4: Press "record", the "play", then "Enter" and record 1 second of nothing. Then hit the
"Stop" button

5: Go back into Track Status and switch the track(s) you will be using to "p" (play). If
there are certain tracks you will not want the Emax to respond to you will want to use
"Erase Track" to delete them.

7: Save the Bank! It's the only way to save the sequence

6: Now by just selecting that sequence your Emax will be in multimode. There is a catch
though, you won't really be able to see what preset the track is playing unless you go
under Track Preset and each channel will respond to preset changes. So sometimes
you can swith the preset and not even realize it. It also will respond to Volume r Pan
controls so if you need to adjust levels you will have to adjust the presets Attenuation in
Dynamic Processing. If for some reason upon selecting the sequence it's not responding
to the channels you want make sure SuperMode is on... I think on my Emax SE HD the
SuperMode disarmed itself everytime I loaded a bank and I had to rearm it, but I could
be mistaken.

It's certainly not the easy way to be in mulitmode. One of the reasons I got an ESI-32 is
that it has a real MultiMode where each channel responds individualy to MIDI
commands like Volume and Pan. If I really need to use more Emax II presets then I can
map into one preset then I import it into the ESi-32 and MultiMode it there.
