Hello, Use regular hd floppy disk, place a sticker to cover the hole on the top left corner (this one is used by the drive to determine whether disk is hd or dd as the another to write enabled/disbaled). In that way you can force your drive to work in dd format. It won't damage it - sometimes you can read such a warnings, but believe me - the only danger is less safety data storage, cause of magnetic differences between hd and dd floppies. But I've never encountered this anyway - I use korg dss1 old sampler cheating its drive in similar way for last 3 years and emax II for last 6 months. Use copyqm program to transfer OS from download section in this group to your "prepared" hd floppy. You have to make a dos boot disk cause copyqm doesn't work with windows. It's a bit frustrating process - but at the and you'll get a fully working OS disk for your emax. I made it this way too. No fake :) read the copyqm manual first. Good luck Paul P.s. Don't use EMX - I spend few nights trying to force it to work properly ... Copyqm is robust. -----Original Message----- From: JUDITH DEHART [mailto:deharts@...] Sent: Friday, March 25, 2005 8:26 PM To: emax@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [emax] How do you format? Amber, Did you make sure the disk is an "old-style" lower capacity disk? It's got to be one of the old 720mb issues. They're getting hard to find, but you can buy them on the "ROUTE 66" website. The high density disks won't work with Emax II............. Dave --------------------------------- I just bought an Emax II that didn't come with a boot disk. I have some DS/DD disks, and I downloaded the OS files to one of those disks & attempted to run it, only to be told that the disk wasn't formatted. How do I go about formatting a disk for use with the EII? Emax and Emax II User's Group Website http://www.silveriafamily.com Yahoo!
