Hi, A few weeks ago I promised to release an alpha version of my EMAX "librarian" software during the last week of October. Well today is the day :-) You can find the program in the files section, named "Emaxlib_v0_01_1_alpha.zip". Please read the README.TXT file or the EMAXLHLP.HTML file after unzipping the package: these files explain how to install the software. Don't run the executable EMAXREAD.EXE. Read the installation instructions first and then use your browser to use the software. A few words on this version: - It's an alpha release, meaning it has to be tested thoroughly yet, and some features still have to be added. - The software MUST be run in a 32-bit Windows environment. - The software does't read the disk(drive)s themselves, only the disk images. So create the images first with EMX ! - It has only been tested with: * own banks created on EMAX II samplers only; * ZD banks downloaded from the internet, which are EMAX-I banks. Test results: * It worked 100% correct with my own banks (both 16-bit EMAX II and compressed EMAX II); * It was also pretty succesful with the ZD-banks (80% OK), but it crashed on 26 of them. However, my EMAXII hardware sampler also crashed on them :-) so I don't know if it's a software problem or an image problem. My experience shows that some EMAX-banks can be rather "dirty". E.g. my program sometimes reports empty samples, but that's because there really are empty samples in the bank... For more information: see the included helpfile. I would really appreciate feedback on this version, especially from EMAX(1) users. You can email me on my yahoo account. Don't get angry if the software crashes on your first bank :-). Just let me know the problem and e-mail me the image on which it crashed. So that I can solve the problem and release a more stable version. If the feedback indicates major problems with EMAX-1 banks, I will try to buy an EMAX-1 sampler and do some further investigation myself. Thanks & have fun. ///E-Synthesist Kris, Belgium.
