these are also good points.....and easy to a point.....
Sounds like either a capacitor has blown (easy to get and replace),or a cold solder on the bottom of the board is arcing....

  Might you know where I can get these specs?  I know that my friend had a
  really hard time finding any specs for his Emulator III.  I have found
  someone who is willing to take a look at it but, he can give no guarantee
  that he can fix the problem so, the more info I can give him, the better.
  It's also my controller keyboard so, if it's dead, I'm kinda screwed until I
  find a replacement and I am kinda partial to the Emax's key action.
