EMX Files for FREE

2001-11-16 by Rob EmuArc

Hi
The EMX downloads have been tested and are okay, except for perhaps one. If
anyone would like all the EMX files on a CD rather than having to download
them from our web site , please email me off list with your address, and we
will send them out for free. We will get more EMX files onto the site, as we
have a very large collection.

We are tracking down replacement LCD's for the Emax, and they might be
available for $20 - 30. More news soon.

I've also tried to write disks with EMX, using different setups. I've
managed to copy banks up to the Z749 disk and disk no 59,60,62 and 63. On
several of those I got a CRC error when trying to load them into the EMAX
(1). I got around that problem in all cases by rewriting the disk and
trying
again (and then doing a save all on the emax immediately when the disk
loaded, otherwise I always got a CRC error the second time I loaded the
  disk).

On all banks above number 749 (except the ones mentioned above) I manage
to
get the disks to load, but the presets and samples are broken. Often the
preset names look OK in the first and last couple of presets, but the ones
in the middle don't even show the PXX. Trying to select one of the broken
presets almost always reboots the EMAX. The strange thing is that on a
given
bank, the errors always look exactly the same. The preset names are broken
in the same way, the samples sound the same regardles of what setup I used
to write the disk, HD/DD, "pure" DOS or win98 in dos mode etc.

So I wonder if it isn't the disks that are incorrectly copied in to .emx
format in the first place. I'd like to know if anyone has been able to
make
a (working) copy of the ZD778 FM Synth #1 bank or any other bank that I've
  had no luck with.

  /Max
