RE: [emax] New Member with a drive problem here...

2001-11-29 by Rob EmuArc

Hi,
The current replacement floppy drive for the Emax II is a TEAC FD235HF-A529
which is black. You'll need the TEAC 41mm bezel in black too. The drive is
stocked by a range of TEAC main dealers, but its not easy to find. The bezel
usually has to be ordered directly from TEAC, although some stock still
exist in retail stores. This drive has jumpers that enable the ID of the
drive to be set to 0, unlike most other floppy drives manufactured today.
You can also use obsolete or second hand drives that enable ID selection.

The TEAC drive costs $26 when bought as a pack of 30,

The Bezel is under $3.

Either try a TEAC dealer or Richard at Route 66 Studios. We have stopped
selling most spares (as we don't have the time to do this right now) and we
encourage E-mu owners to source the parts directly (which is cheaper
too). Our web site will be updated to show pictures of fitting various
spares, and details of where spares can be found.

In terms of hard disks, we suggest you look our at Emax II web pages for
complete details of which small SCSI drives will work. Source them either
via ebay or a specialist obsolete drive company. A guy in California sells
Emax II drives loaded with presets, check out his ebay sale...

There are still a number of Emax II CDROM's for sale. We have just bought
the 3 CDROM Max collection from Northstar at www.northstarsamples.com and
they are very good (if pricey).

Hope this helps, and enjoy that Emax II.

Regards
Rob

Hi everyone, I just got an Emax II with no floppy nor hard drive and
I'm getting nuts trying to find a drive for it (floppy first).
If you know anything that may help, please let me know.
  Thank you,
  Al.
