Hi, A standard PC drive can not be set to ID = 0, which is what the Emax requires. You can buy a new TEAC FD235HF-A529 drive (which is black) from a TEAC dealer, also ask for a 41mm high bezel to make it half height. This drive can be jumpered to ID (DS) = 0, we can send you the details. They work really well. If you are in the USA you can get them from Route 66 Studio (search this in Google). We don't sell them anymore, unless you really can't locate one elsewhere. They are US Dollars 100 from us. An old ATARI drive may work, but you are best off buying a new one. Go for Alchemy as you can convert to/from .wav files - there is a free download on our web site that may work fine for you. Regards and check out our web site for everything about Emax's. I've tried replacing it with a standard PCdrive, but even though the connections fit, it doesn't communicate. The one tech support guy I could find who actually remembers once repairing some of these things told me, that an old ATARI diskdrive might do the trick for me, but where do I find that? The questions for you guys are: 1) does anyone know of a way to get hold of one of these ATARIdrives?, or 2) does anyone know of some kind of app that will allow a pc (or mac) to read sounds from an emaxdisk and save them as wave, aiff or some other commonly used modern format. Please help me, a lot of years hard work is running out the drain here. Thanx monsdrum Emax and Emax II User's Group http://www.silveriafamily.com Your use of Yahoo! Groups is subject to the Yahoo!
