I know it can work, for 12 years I've been using SDS between my computers and my 
Emax, Emax II, and ESI-32. The main thing is first to remove everything in your MIDI 
chain and make sure the Emax II is connected both MIDI IN and OUT to the computer 
directly. Make sure the global MIDI setting is set to a single MIDI channel, I'd use 
Channel 1. Good luck! Let us know what happens.
