Thanks for the correction, like I said it was way
back in the day, my mistake.

This is incorrect. Voice Farm opened for DM at the Cow Palace on the Tour for the Masses (music for the masses tour) in San Francisco. Nitzer Ebb was suppose to be the opening act for the whole tour but couldn't get into the US some Visa issue. Nitzer did open up for DM on the Violator tour. For the Masses tour DM used Emax HD and DX7II (martin and Alan) and a DW800(Fletch) but the non-emax keyboards were only for triggering Emax HD rackmounts as a back-up. Alan demonstrates the Emax HD in the documentary 101.

Back in the day, I mean way back before
craigslist and eBay, there was this local
news paper listing here in SF called the Adveriser
and I responded to this add for an Emulator 1. Ended up
belonging to some group called Voice Farm, I had never heard
of them before. The E1 came with a whole
box of their samples which I thought were sort
of lame at the time, but their where also a few factory
samples that sounded very familiar. Any way to make
a long story short, Voice Farm ended up opening
for Depeche Mode, it was supposed to be
Nitzer Ebb, not sure what happened. This was for the Violator
tour, I know DM was using Emax IIs and DX7s for a backups.
I always wondered if Voice Farm had gotten
the E1 or some of the disks from DM. The recoginzable
sounds all sounded like they where from Black Celebration.

I never knew why always sampler or keyboard users wants to imitate or use the same samples or sound of celebs.
synths and samplers are great instruments, and everyone could create great sounds, even pressing random buttons.
OK depeche mode sounds awesome, but that's all. don try to be depeche mode.
use your imagination please. same for the people who need X piece of gear that john doe use in some tour.
music's first.

best wishes
