Emax OS questions

2009-09-29 by dutchbeats

My foist post! Hi all was wondering how the OS is setup in comparison to the
Mirage in terms of sampling. Before you laugh(alright, after) I have the Mirage
setup with the input sampling filter and I use the template method for
beat-making with the same keyboard splits that I first made way back in
90-94(ish). I load up the same old beat from eons ago and whatever the currently
selected sample is is where the next sample I take is going to go. And with the
Mirage there are no steps to take or modes to switch to just two big buttons
that say sample, so you never leave your keyboard split and all the other
samples. Does the E-mu OS (especially the Emax) work this way for rapid sampling
by saving a template? Basically, can I load up a previously saved beat and just
(ok i guess the first sample i'd have to set some parameters) press sample and
have it go to the currently selected preset without leaving the keyboard split?
I skimmed through the Esi-32 and Emax manuals and somewhat 'gleaned'(haha) the
whole sampling deal along with the auto placement part in the Esi, just wanted
some positive reinforcement from Emax users. Thanks

Also if this can be done without any sample naming like with the Mirage that would rock. I don't share any files between beats except maaaybe the odd sound so..

I should mention I don't own an Emax yet.
