>>> Is there a limit to the number of 'banks' that can be held irrespective of the MB size ? Yes indeed, only a maximum of 100 banks is supported. So if you convert your Emulator II banks to Emax-II format, they will take approx. 1 MB per bank (because Emulator II banks take slightly less than 0.5 MB, and when converting to Emax-II the size of the samples is doubled from 8 bits to 16 bits). So if each converted bank takes about 1MB and you can only save a max of 100 banks on an Emax-II HD, you'll only be able to use 100MB on that HD... Note that the CDS3 CDROM system for Emulator II and Emax did NOT have this 100 banks limit; but that system was not SCSI but based on the slower RS422 connection... --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "John Parkins" <jmp70@...> wrote: > > > > > > > Yeah, read that he has none left in a previous message. As an Emulator II user for several years (see YT JMPSynth), decided to take the plunge on an Emax II Rack, 2MB RAM with internal 500MB HD. I see its advantages, particularly with a SCSI zip drive attached and currently delving through the Emax II library, experimenting with EMXP conversion utility etc... > > > > Anyway, one question, whilst the HD is 500MB and shows a large space available, I only seem to get approx. 100MB used before out of memory/space messages. Presume that's normal? Have tried to clarify this searching here and in the manual but can't find confirmation of it. > > > > Looking for a replacement FDD for my Emax II if anyone has one for sale or an easy install replacement. I've seen the slim Mitsumi one listed here but not sure where to find the adapter face plate....
