If it's been used, a small portion of the floppy disk has been erased/replaced by garbage bytes. I have such a used disk myself too :-) Most probably this erased set of bytes is the same as the set of bytes stored in the eprom, but I'm not sure. The problem is that you can not just do some experiments with possible corrected disks, because you may write corrupt data to the eproms during these experiments. Only if you are capable of and willing to backup/restore the eproms with a prom reader/burner you could start up some experiments...
