Thanks Jammie,
 
It has a floppy cable connector inside, and that's what I connected my old floppy drive to with the old cable.  Could this still have a USB controller instead of a Floppy Hardware IC controller if it has the usual floppy connector?

thats usb mode for floppy drive slot it enables a usb header pin for usb 
floppy and flash drive

check to see that your motherboard has a floppy controller see your mother 
board manufacturers site as it might be a usb version and they dont work you 
need a dedicated floppy hardware ic controller as this is what omniflop 
controls
