Sample slice possible on Emax?

2011-10-03 by mlivingston8

So I took the weekend to to wrap my head around creating my own sample disks with the Emax. I got really far converting samples with EMXP as well as real time sampling with the direct in on the Emax, all easy enough and straight forward. But for my practical purposes I ran into a dead end when I wanted to separate a sample into "slices" after I recorded a loop from a vinyl record sped up to the max rate.

Bottom line, I have a 4 bar loop recorded and turnicated exactly how I want it from start to stop. I want to take this four bar loop and turn it into four one bar loops on their key ranges. I tried to copy this four bar loop to four different key ranges but then after I turnicate one sample into a "slice" the other "copies" also turnicate the same way. Am I missing something or do I have to record the sample, turnicate to 1 bar loop, record again, turnicate the next loop... etc, etc?

I've never used the SP1200 but it seems as if it's OS has a "slice" function built in as it's been a staple in sample based music. Am I missing something or does "slice" in some form or fashion not exist in the Emax? Any help or workflow suggestions appreciated!
