Emax

I think the trick here is that you need to copy the original sample
(voice) that you want to chop up.

If you go into preset definition module -> copy voices (this is all
from memory, so bear with me if I get the module wrong). Copy the
sample from the first set of keys (or key) to a new location.

Now when you go into Digital Processing to edit either of the two
voices you now have, you will be prompted to copy the voice before
editing (as it exists on multiple key ranges) -- This is the key step!

Once you have made a copy of the voice, truncate it to the bit you
want, make the truncation permanent (remember you still have the other
voice as a copy), and then repeat the process for all the chopped up
bits you need (copy voice, digital processing, truncate, make
permanent, repeat...)

That's how I would have done it in '88 :-)
